ABOUT MICHEL DE LECQ MARGUERIE

Michel De Lecq Marguerie is a non-executive Director of Specialty Managers Group (SMG), and President of De Lecq Insurance Consulting, Inc. and De Lecq US, Inc.

Education

In 1982, Michel graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, following A levels achieved in Mathematics, Physics and Political Science.

Career

Michel began his career in Lloyd’s in 1983 as a reinsurance broker for J.H Minet, specializing in North American business, where he became a divisional director in 1988. In 1990, Michel joined Umbrella broker (under Robert Fleming) Fox Craig & Company Ltd (FCC), as a shareholder & director. In 1993 FCC sold to Bradstock Blunt & Crawley PLC, where he remained as Divisional Managing Director of North American Reinsurance.

In 1994, Michel was elected as a vocational underwriting member of Lloyd’s (resigned 1996). In 1996 he moved to Toronto to join Jonathan Beach as a principal / shareholder of Beach & Associates Ltd with a view to converting the firm to a global reinsurance intermediary. In 2002 Beach & Associates Ltd opened a London office (which subsequently achieved Lloyd’s broker status) and was followed by the opening of offices in Sydney, New York, Dallas and Bermuda.  Michel became Deputy Chairman in 2003 and remained in that position until the sale of the company, to Aquiline Capital Partners LLC, in November 2014.

Michel has worked with the SMG team in a reinsurance brokering capacity since 1998 and has recently joined the group to enhance production and business development through his extensive experience and network. Michel also provides consulting and strategic advisory services to various industry related clients, through De Lecq Insurance Consulting, Inc.
